Denver Public Schools 2019 Citywide Juried Show Overall Winning Work "Creative Category"
"Collaborative Dimensions"
48" x 36"
2019
Students in Drawing and Painting 3 and Advanced Placement Drawing collaborated to create the 35 works assembled together. Inspired by individual sketchbook work from semester 1, students selected their favorite drawing to re-work and make into a pen and ink drawing. The works were randomly placed on a panel and the students wrote a sequential story about the collection of artwork. Each student, based on the order of the artwork, was tasked with contributing a sentence or two based on how their individual artwork worked into the next scene of the story. The work is to be "read" like a book from left to right to visually align with the story.
